Florida’s Oil Production Began on Collier Minerals
The discovery of oil at Sunniland Field on Collier minerals in 1943 opened the door for oil exploration and production in Florida. Since then, the state has produced more than 600 million barrels of oil and up until 2009 was producing about two million barrels annually.
