FAQ

When exploring with a 3-D seismic survey within the Big Cypress National Preserve, Collier Resources works with the National Park Service (NPS) to develop the most minimally invasive survey plan possible.  We also follow a comprehensive list of operational rules and conditions set by the National Park Service and the Preserves’ Minerals Management Plan as well as Best Management Practices that include:

  • Helicopter delivery of survey equipment.
  • Use of existing roads and trails when possible.
  • Use of sonic technology to place seismic charges.
  • On-foot surveying and placement/retrieval of geophone listening devices.
  • Use of third-party observers to ensure rule compliance.
Our Commitment
"We believe there are significant new oil and gas resources within the Big Cypress National Preserve and we are committed to locating and developing them to help meet America’s energy needs. Still, as long-time landowners who work and live in this community, we are equally committed to protecting the environment."

Investing in Technology
To further minimize effects on the environment, Collier Resources and its partners also invest in the most advanced technology available for conducting the seismic survey including a specially designed mini sonic drill. This drill, which has less surface impact than that of a human footprint, uses vibration instead of force to place seismic charges quickly and to prevent permanently displacing the soil.
