Technology has revolutionized the search for oil giving us the ability to determine more precisely where potential new oil fields are located with minimal impact on the environment. This technology includes the three dimensional (3-D) seismic survey which uses sound waves to locate oil formations at great depths, much like an MRI produces a map of the human body.
